  3. Product Features and Applications:The EVOLUTION is an upgrade to chain link fabric. It is perfectly suited for any fencing application that requires better looks, durability and security. It is the only cost effective alternative to chain link or any other low-end ornamental fence.
  4. Technical Data: The Evolution system combines a very rigid double welded wire panel with simple wire clamps suited for existing or new chain link round posts to make for a clean looking, easy to install and secure system.

    The panels are fabricated from heavy-duty steel wire ( 2 x 4-Ga. horizontal and 1 x 4-Ga. vertical ) welded at each intersection into a solid one-piece mesh sheet, which can easily be stacked to heights of up to 24’. The panels come in three standard sizes, 4’, 6’ and 8’ with 2” x 8” mesh openings. The panels are hot dip galvanized. Although the panels can be easily trimmed during the installation, there is no weak link and no possible unraveling. References: ASTM A182 and ASTM A185 .

    On new or existing round steel post. New line or corner posts will have the same diameter: 2 3/8” (60.0mm) o.d. and minimum 33 in. (838mm) longer than the height of the panel. Select either Type I or Type II:

    Type I steel pipe ( schedule 40) conforms to the requirement of ASTM F1083 and coating type ASTM F1043 Type A, minimum average zinc coating weight 1.8 oz/ft2 ( 550g/m2) of surface.

    Type II steel pipe is produced in accordance with commercial standards, minimum yield strength of 50,000 psi (344 Mpa), cold formed and welded per ASTM F1043 Group IC. External and internal coating Type B, minimum average zinc coating 0.9 oz/ft2 ( 270 g/m2) or Type D, zinc rich paint, minimum thickness 3 mils ( 0.075mm).

    To upgrade an existing facility, keep the same post or slide a new oversized post over the existing one using the same foundation. The new post is affixed with tap screw located at the base.

    The optional color panel finish is high adherence, electrostatic polyester powder coating with high UV stability, impact, corrosion, heat and humidity resistance. Standard and optional colors are readily available. References: ASTM D 3359 (1990) - Method B/ D 2794 (1990) / B 117 (1990) / D 2247 (1988).

    A wide selection of gates are available. The swing gates, whether single or double, shall be made in accordance with ASTM F900 (1984) and the sliding gates shall be fabricated in accordance with ASTM F1184, Class 2.

    The Omega II attachment hardware consists of only (2) items: a wire eye-U-bracket designed to wrap around 2 3/8’’ round posts and an end-to-end connector which allows panels to be connected without requiring a post. The hardware allows for straight line and turns, however turns require a post.

  5. Installation: Installing an EVOLUTION system is fast and easy. An experienced installer should be able to set 300' per day.

    To install this Evolution fence system simply use the already existing 2 3/8'' posts or set a brand new line of posts and attach the panels. Where two panels meet and no post is set, simply join them with the end-to-end connector.

    To impede climbing, standard panels come with 1” pickets. Should they not be required, the pickets can be set facing downwards or they can be removed.

    Panels can be trimmed on the job site as long as zinc primer and touch-up paint is applied to the cut marks.

    For the fence to follow slopes, it is required to step the fence sections. The wire clamp can be slid along the post to the desired height or install a new post at each step which will give a clean line. When faced with a steep slope, it will be necessary to order longer posts and panels cut in half as to keep the gap under the panel to a minimum. A very steep slope may require a portion of the panel to be buried but this is only recommended when the manufacturer supplies specially coated panels.
